Porthkerris Camping and Diving Trip 2023

This year’s summer Porthkerris trip was a resounding success. Despite unpredictable weather, we were blessed with light westerly winds and a few more sunny spells than expected!

Porthkerris is always a highlight of the year but with all British diving, there’s the weather to consider. Thankfully, it was kind to us this year, despite torrential rain for a good part of the 7 hour journey down! Although we didn’t quite have a scorching sun and clear visibility we had last year but we were still able to dive each day and enjoy a few sunny spells and very pleasant campfire evenings. What more could we ask for…

We spent 4 nights camping on the prime beach-front pitches, which give an awesome view of the ocean and are conveniently located for the shop and facilities.

The visibility was only 3 – 4 metres at best but we managed to see lots! Starfish, cuttlefish, crawfish, octopus, anemones and a stack of fish life. Sadly, we only managed to spot the seal from a distance again…

This year we were graced by the daily visits from the goats and managed to get out to explore the nearby Porthallow and famous Roskilly’s Ice Cream Parlour!

Thanks to Diogo, Samuel, Rob, Cathy, Lisa and James for joining our trip and making it so much fun. Of course, a massive thanks to Nazia and Keyaan for all your hard work and help throughout (and for organising the delicious chicken curry and chocolate brownies!)
